12 ROUNDS OF HOPE FOR THE PRINCES

Ali et les princes de la rue

Ali et les princes de la rue is organizing 12 Rounds of hope for the princes to support the École de la relève, which teaches youth to build themselves a better future, far from dropping out and social exclusion. This August 23rd at 7pm at TOHU, nearly fifteen public figures will attend the benefit-event to raise funds by boxing against Ali Nestor, boxer emeritus and founder of the organization. This friendly fight will take place in the presence of the Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, Canadian Prime Minister, who will in turn support the trainer who helped him defeat Patrick Brazeau 5 years ago.

Nearly fifteen boxers will take turns facing off against Ali Nestor, while others will take the role of coaches to support the participants. As such, we will see in the ring the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, David Heurtel, Minister of Sustainable Development, Environment and the Fight against Climate Change, Anie Samson, Mayor of the Villeray-St-Michel-Parc-Extension borough, Jean Cantin, Corneille, Robert Frosi, Cathy Gauthier, Patrice Godin, Eddy King, Alexandre Landry, Isabelle Maréchal, Neev, Michael Penner, and Marie-Élaine Thibert. In the coach’s corner, we will find the Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, Canadian Prime Minister, as well as Dan Bigras, Virginie Coossa, Martine St-Clair and Martin Talbot.

ÉCOLE DE LA RELÈVE

Founded in September 2010, this training program developed by Ali et les princes de la rue provides young people with the appropriate support to obtain their high school diploma. Combined with martial arts practice and social and cultural activities, the young students develop their self-mastery and self-esteem to counter social exclusion and violence. The École de la relève is the first athletics-studies immersion program, dedicated to youth ages 16 to 25 with academic and behavioural difficulties, to receive official accreditation from the Quebec Ministry of Education. HydroQuebec and Keurig have already pledged their financial support to the organization for 2017 to ensure the program’s operation.
