The shows mark the culmination of three years of training as part of their college-level specialized education in the circus arts. Centre ring, over a dozen disciplines to discover: ball acrobatics, swinging and dance trapeze, tight wire, juggling, Chinese pole, cloud swing, aerial hoop, balancing, Cyr wheel and Korean board, plus aerial rope, straps and silk.
Barok XXI immerses the viewer in a multisensory, multihued and multilayered universe. A fracture has occurred, space-time has contracted. Epochs and the temporal, the real, the poetic have merged, become intertwined. A world where the protagonists seek an ideal, a cause, an absolute, a hope, a utopia ... a quest for meaning!
THE NATIONAL CIRCUS SCHOOL
Offering an education at the high school and college levels the National Circus School has prepared artists and teachers for professional careers in the circus arts for over 35 years. It has trained more than 500 artists, many of whom have gone on to take top honours at the world’s most prestigious festivals and become an international reference in its field. A pioneer of the new circus in Canada and North America, the National Circus School has contributed to the emergence of several renowned circus companies, including Cirque du Soleil, Cirque Éloize, 7 doigts de la main and Cirque Alfonse.
