Celui qui tombe

Yoann Bourgeois

AN EXCITING PERFORMANCE HALFWAY BETWEEN CIRCUS AND CONTEMPORARY DANCE.

A six-metre by six-metre solid wood platform, suspended two metres above the ground... which goes down, up, sways, rocks, and quickly spins around its main axis. Inspired by great open spaces, it evokes plains, mountains, amusement rides. Six performers stand and must remain on it, whatever happens. They walk, run, jump, climb, dance on it. Rather than initiating movement, they each react to it, allowing themselves to be taken by the forces of the platform launched in various dynamics.

Yoann Bourgeois and his accomplices sparked great enthusiasm with this contemporary circus performance. The artist creates each one of his shows as a game to experiment with new physical principles. Here, the “players” work against centrifugal and centripetal forces, trying to keep their balance, avoiding being the one that falls (Celui qui tombe). A fascinating and enlightening show, agile and bold, with great poetic strength.
