To mark Black History Month, TOHU is proud to present, for the first time in Montreal, the exhibition Fugitives! The installation, as simple as it is powerful, is based on descriptions of black people from various historical sources. Large-format portraits, created by local illustrators, give them new life and dignity. Rapper and historian Aly Ndyaye, a.k.a. Webster, offers an important wake-up call: black people have always been part of Quebec's history, and their condition, between slavery and resistance, deserves to be brought to light.

The exhibition Fugitif! was awarded the Prix Excellence by the Canadian Museums Association in 2020.
