The National Circus School (NCS) graduation show allows the 2023 cohort artists, who are concluding their school career, to offer unique performances that showcase their many talents. This ultimate exercise in creation and production is a true rite of passage that demonstrates all the work accomplished during their years at the NCS. This professional show will certainly impress spectators who will have the pleasure of seeing these young circus artists perform prior to joining circus companies.
Young, gifted, ardent, in great shape, they are the magnificent ones! I wanted this Parades to be a reflection of them; a reflection of a world that exalts the "I" but infused with the "we" without which nothing happens, nor will happen.
Here they are, sometimes adorned with their talent, their strength, their mastery that they display with an insolent casualness, sometimes dressed in doubts, worried about the progress of the world, looking for answers.
Step by step, the artifices lose their necessity, the overall movement carries away the vanities. Narcissus can go to bed. What remains is the joy of having crossed these pivotal years together and a pure whistle that rises in the night.
For more than 40 years, the National Circus School (NCS) has been training and developing the next generation of circus artists from Quebec and around the world. Renowned worldwide, the NCS is also dedicated to research and innovation in the field of circus arts, in addition to ensuring the conservation and enhancement of heritage, history and living memory of this age-old art.
The National Circus School welcomes more than 150 students each year, representing approximately 25 nationalities. Over the past four decades, the NCS has trained more than eight hundred circus artists and teachers. Today, it is proud to have contributed to the birth of renowned companies, such as Cirque du Soleil, Cirque Éloize, The 7 Fingers and Cirque Alphonse.
