Make a meaningful contribution

Support La TOHU in the three parts of its mission: the circus, the earth, the human being.

Le Filet, La TOHU's annual fundraising campaign

La TOHU is a non-profit organization whose goal is to democratize the circus arts while respecting the environment and, above all, making a difference in its neighbourhood. Your help is essential to our success.

As an institution, La TOHU pursues a three-pronged mission: Circus - Earth - Human. A multitude of actions testify to its commitment to sustainable development through culture:

  • A local employability policy for the benefit of young people in Saint-Michel (recruitment by preferred postal code for positions related to welcoming the public, mentoring program, training and coaching);
  • Active involvement in the economic and social revitalization of the neighborhood, and close ties with community organizations (distribution of free tickets, cultural mediation, hosting of public events, volunteer program in organizations, etc.);
  • Educational services for primary and secondary schools, as well as for new arrivals to Canada, among other important audiences;
  • Eco-responsibility initiatives, waste reduction, carbon offsetting, environmental education, and the management of a unique green building, the first LEED Gold-certified building in Quebec;
  • And services and support to professional circus artists (free training, research and creation residencies, artistic accompaniment, etc.).

These initiatives typically generate no direct income, and are made possible thanks to our generous donors like you. In order to pursue its charitable mission and fulfill its responsibilities to its various communities, TOHU is asking for your help.

The 2023-2024 annual fundraising campaign begins today.

Our goal is to raise $400,000.

The funds raised will be dedicated to the various elements of TOHU's charitable mission described above. A portion will also specifically support a series of free activities planned for 2024, celebrating both the La TOHU's 20th anniversary as well as the 100th anniversary of Frédéric Back's birth.
