About TOHU

Located at the centre of the Cité des arts du cirque, La TOHU is a place for dissemination, creation, experimentation and convergence of culture, environment and community involvement. Since its 2004 inception, it has become an example of sustainable development through culture.

A unique hall in North America : Our 360-degree circular hall is in the purest circus tradition. This distinctive feature can accommodate unusual shows and original creations. La TOHU is a 22,45 meters high and 40 meters diameter impressive scene having a capacity of 1200 persons!

La TOHU continues to make Montréal an international leader in circus arts. It plays a major role in the incredible growth of Quebec circus, which it places at the top of the bill, thanks to its dedicated venue and festival.

TOHU : THE CIRCUS, THE EARTH, THE HUMAN BEING

The TOHU Pavilion is a perfect example of LEED GOLD Canada certified green building. Not only does it house North America’s first circular performance space dedicated to the circus arts, but it also provides privileged access to the Saint-Michel Environmental Complex. The SMEC is the biggest environmental rehabilitation project the City of Montréal has ever completed.
