For school groups in the Saint-Michel district
Throughout the year, numerous opportunities for discovery and cultural mediation workshops linked to our programming are specially designed and developed for school groups in the district. These activities are free of charge and can take place either at La TOHU or in the classroom.

Join your group to discover an extraordinary park, unique in its history and metamorphosis. This guided tour begins inside La TOHU, the park's reception and interpretation pavilion, an exemplary building in terms of sustainable development, followed by a short historical introduction in images of the site's industrial past. Adapted according to the season, an observation walk along the park's paths will then enable you to discover all the secrets of Frédéric-Back Park, understand the purpose of these strange white spheres, observe the biodiversity of nature in the city and learn how to cohabit with it.

During this guided tour, discover La TOHU, a circular, modular performance venue unique in North America and also a reception and interpretation pavilion in Frédéric-Back Park, through its architecture and the technological innovations that have earned it LEED Canada Gold certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). Passive and conventional geothermal systems, heating generated by the transformation of nearby biogas, recycled architectural materials, green roofs and naturalized ponds.

Explore La TOHU's three exhibition spaces accompanied by an animator-guide. In the intimacy of the circular hall's passageways, immerse yourself in the world of show business, from the viewpoint of the spectator and that of the artist, through the exhibition L'Art...du cirque. Explore the Pink Alley and the outdoor exhibition with sound creations by Audiotopie. Discover the work of a local or international artist in the exhibition hall to the rhythm of La TOHU's visual arts programming.

Visitors must be well-shod and dressed according to the weather, as the park is very exposed to the wind. Snow boots are required for snowshoeing.
Take advantage of the winter season to discover Parc Frédéric-Back in a different way, with snowshoes on your feet! This activity is ideal for beginners, for a winter immersion in the heart of the city. After a short, practical introduction, follow your guide along the park's snowy trails. You'll discover the unique history of the site while enjoying a popular outdoor sport.

Add the Circus in all its states! educational activity to your show reservation. This activity allows you to discover La TOHU and all the facets of its mission. It offers your students an introduction to the world of the contemporary circus, including a guided tour of the corridors and the performance hall (subject to accessibility by the company), as well as a period of hands-on workshops (juggling, balance games, scenic expression, depending on the age of the students) to discover and learn about a number of disciplines in a playful, collaborative spirit.

Discover the great history of the circus, from its origins to the different forms and aesthetics that make up today's contemporary circus landscape. Through an introduction in images and the discovery of the exhibition L'art... du cirque, you'll leave with a wealth of historical information and anecdotes that have helped shape the circus as we know it today.
We offer a practical workshop adapted to your group to complete your activity: introduction to juggling, balance games, stage expression and/or clowning.

Discover Parc Frédéric-back and all its little inhabitants! There are lots of insects here. This activity is an opportunity to discover them, learn to recognize them and observe them with a magnifying glass. It includes an introduction to scientific observation in nature in the Frédéric-Back park and the creation of an observation drawing.

As a cultural partner of the CSSDM (Centre de services scolaires de Montréal) for the past two years, La TOHU offers schools 3 seasonal events to give students the chance to experience an outdoor school day. An event from TOHU's cultural or environmental program is paired with one of our guided tours or educational activities.
Fall: Sky Acrobats + Discovering Frédéric-Back Park
Winter: programming to come + Winter snowshoe walk
Spring: Festival Grain de Ciel + Explorateurs en herbe, insect observation in the park.
In collaboration with École en Réseau, La TOHU offers elementary school students activities focused on the environment and eco-citizenship, allowing them to discover Frédéric Back Park, experience a remote project and exchange ideas with classes across Quebec.
