This summer is very special for all of us and it was just as special for MONTREAL COMPLETEMENT CiRQUE which, in one edition, became MONTREAL PRESQUE CiRQUE. Every year, the Festival brings life to the streets, halls, parks and neighbourhoods of the city... This 2020 edition was more discreet, but oh so much fun! MONTREAL COMPLETEMENT CiRQUE has adapted to bring the circus arts to life!

TOHU & MONTRÉAL COMPLÈTEMENT CiRQUE Outdoor Programming Summer 2021

Montréal’s contemporary circus presenter seeks short circus shows and acts, including those already created and those currently in development, as well as circus-based street performance concepts, for our outdoor programming in May-August 2021. Performances may take place during Montréal Complètement Cirque Festival, in the Parc Frédéric-Back, at TOHU’s Falla event, and/or in a range of Montréal neighborhoods.

All projects must follow public health guidelines in effect at the time of performance and artistic teams must include at least 50% circus artists. Works-in-development may be eligible to receive free residency time in our facilities between January and June 2021.
All submissions will be considered.

Special attention will be given to projects with any of the following characteristics:

  • Promenade, parade, & walkabout projects
  • Projects with no or very little spoken text
  • Projects whose performers reflect the diversity of Montréal
  • Site-specific or site-responsive projects (for urban/street architecture downtown & in neighborhoods; park landscapes, like Frédéric-Back Park)
  • Projects combining circus with hip hop, street dance, & other urban art forms
  • Projects reflecting cultural influences present in the St. Michel neighborhood (like Maghreb/Africa, Caribbean/Latin America, & South East Asia)
