As an institution, TOHU pursues a three-pronged mission: Circus – Earth – Human. A multitude of actions demonstrate its commitment to sustainable development through culture:

• Local employability policy benefiting young people in Saint-Michel (recruitment by zip code for positions related to customer service, followed by a mentoring program, training, and support);
• Active involvement in the economic and social revitalization of the neighborhood and close ties with community organizations (distribution of free tickets, cultural mediation, hosting of public events, volunteer program in organizations, etc.);
• Educational services for elementary and secondary schools as well as newcomers, among other priority audiences;
• Initiatives in eco-responsibility, waste reduction, carbon offset, environmental education, and, of course, the management of a unique green building, the first LEED Gold certified building in Quebec;
• And all services and support offered free of charge or at low cost to professional circus artists (free training, research and creation residencies, artistic support, etc.).

Make a major donation to culture

Financial support from donors is essential to ensuring the sustainability of the arts. Making a major donation to culture is much more than a gesture of generosity; it is a concrete commitment to cultural vitality.
Since 2013, a major donation to culture entitles you to a tax credit of 25% of the eligible amount of the donation, in addition to the charitable donation tax credit.
This is a cash donation of between $5,000 and $25,000 made by an individual to a registered cultural organization. If the donation meets the eligibility criteria, it entitles the donor to extremely advantageous tax benefits. As a donor, you will receive an additional tax credit of 25% on top of the usual charitable donation tax credit, allowing you to recover up to 75% of the donation amount.

Eligibility for the first major donation to culture :

• Cash donation between $5,000 and $25,000
• Donation made by an individual (other than a trust)
• Donation made to a registered charity operating in Quebec in the field of arts or culture
• “First donation” indicates that the additional 25% credit applies to a single major cultural donation made by an individual after July 3, 2013.
